The official opening of our new facility in Orangeville, Ontario was held on June 21, 2005! Thanks to everyone who joined us! See the Caledon Enterprise coverage for more information! John Tory, MPP for Duffererin-Peel-Wellington-Grey, took time to welcome us to the community which we proudly display in our reception.(click on the Image if you would like to read the welcome.)

Thanks to our loyal customers, we
outgrew our previous location and
needed a larger facility to ensure
that our services continued to meet
the high quality standards that we
are committed to deliver.

Features of our Facility:

As a commitment to a sustainable industry, we have incorporated a number of features to save energy or reduce the impact on the environment. Most notable among these are the following:
  • The landscape is designed to be more natural than traditional lawns. It is planted with "Eco Lawn"™ which is a type of fescue needing less water and mowing than usual grasses. The shrubs and trees are native species to attract birds and wildlife.
  • The building is a prefabricated steel structure erected by Landmark Builders. This builder has a solid reputation for quality and customer satisfaction. The building has steel siding for durability and to lessen air infiltration. The walls and ceilings are insulated to a level ofR40 to reduce heat loss and energy consumption.
  • The building is equipped with a "Net Meter" for connecting to the electricity grid. This will allow the future installation of a wind turbine to produce electricity. Any excess power can then be sold back to Hydro One.
  • The variable speed ceiling fans reduce air stratification and associated cold zones in the winter. Heat is provided by "dual fire" gas-fired radiant heaters which can operate at low levels to reduce energy use or high levels when more heat or temperature recovery is required.
  • There is a combined evaporator and scrubber system. By utilizing a single air stream to perform these functions, we can reduce the amount of air lost in the wintertime. Make-up air would use significantly more energy for heating. At the same time, by scrubbing any vapours coming off the tanks, we are able to eliminate any potential odors or emissions to the atmosphere.
  • The quiet, energy efficient exhaust fan is constructed of corrosion resistant materials to ensure long life.
  • The electroless nickel line is designed to use only one pre-treatment line for two electroless nickel lines, thus saving on energy costs.
  • The "Best Black" line is the first of its kind in Canada for black oxide coatings. It utilizes no EPA regulated materials which helps to reduce any un-necessary impact on the environment. Furthermore, as a mid-temperature process, energy requirements are considerably less than conventional, high temperature processes.
  • Water used in our chemical processes is produced by a high-pressure reverse osmosis system. This ensures the highest possible purity to maintain critical standards. The RO reject water, which is a product of this process, is used in less critical rinse operations in order to reduce water consumption and associated costs.
  • Incoming water is treated with a dual bed ion exchange system to help prevent any impurities from being introduced into the manufacturing process
  • Our brush plating is used on many industrial and aerospace applications such as the SpaceArm. It is portable and can be used for salvaging damaged or worn parts that would otherwise be scrapped.
  • Metalon has developed a type of injection mold using plastic models and has negotiated with the National Research Council for a licence to become the first in Canada to provide metal coatings on plastic SLA models. These are becoming more popular in industry to produce molds for both plastics and liquid silicone rubber.
